CAUTION about this assignment!
Thomas and Emily FORD live next door to James and E. V. "Jenny" FORD in 1900. James states his father was born in Maine. Thomas says he was born in Maine. Thomas and Emily are also in the 1860 ( Florida, Orange, Series: M653 Roll: 109 Page: 537, says born in Maine.) and 1870 (1870 Florida, Orange, Series: M593 Roll: 133 Page: 448, says born in England, not Maine.) censuses with his wife Emily. (Is "Miami" a corruption of "Emily" in 1880?) Thomas may be an uncle or James' father, but James is not named in Thomas' household in either 1860 or 1870.

Flavil Hall LLOYD was given the nickname "Tag". He came by it because of a comic strip character named "Tag-a-long" who wore a long billed hat. Flavil did as well. The name "Tag" stuck so well that according to his brother Renfro the name Tag LLOYD was used on many of his records, supplanting his given name of Flavil.

General Notes: Husband - Devol CASADY

Devol CASADY, born 18 November 1859, was the son of William Jackson CASSADY and Margaret CLARK Did his given name come from his CASADY or CLARK pedigrees? Was there a relationship to one of these DEVOL families named among the "First 48 Settlers of Washington County, Ohio" where Devol's family homesteaded in the early 1800s.

WASHINGTON COUNTY HISTORY FOUNDERS OF OHIO: The First 48 Settlers
DEVOL, Allen; DEVOL, Gilbert, Jr.; DEVOL, Jonathan
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwashin/first-48.html)

Devol CASADY married Nellie Ann WILMETH 25 July 1889, in Richland Township, Adair County, Iowa, where Nellie's family lived during the 1880 census. The 1900 census provides that were married for 10 years. Their first child, Frankie E., was born 10 July 1890 and died 11 February 1892, aged 1 year, 7 months and 1 day. He was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Adams County, Iowa. Their son Clinton Jay was also born in Iowa in 1891. Devol moved his family to Oklahoma before July 1896 when their daughter, Lulu, was born.

Nellie Ann died in childbirth in 1913. Her infant daughter also perished.

Devol married four more times. There has been a fair amount of discussion and uncertainty in what happened to each of the wives. His last wife, Eva Lena, widow of a Dyer, was also his widow.

"I also was able to get three marriage licenses for Devol a land description for his farm in Verden and land patent for his land in Woods County. I also found a land patent for Daniel and Irene Dodd and James and Amy Augusta Wilmeth.
Marriages are as follows: One for Carrie Lewis, married on December 8, 1913. One for Bessie M. Goodnight, married on August 4, 1915. Which adds another question. Where did Carrie Lewis go? Then the other one I was able to find was Myrtle Bomer, married on January, 25 1927. Myrtle also appears to vanish in thin air. What happened to her as Eva was the next wife a year later? There was no marriage license for Eva. However, the probate records that she filed to gain administrative capacities for 1936 showed her as Eva Casady. So, finding the three marriage licenses opened up pandora's box and just gave me more questions. Oh well, that's how genealogy goes." [Karen Scharnhorst, 5 May 2011]

Mrs. Bessie May Goodnight, maiden name Ballard, was the widow of Arthur J. Goodnight. Devol and Bessie had one son, Albert Lee Casady.

"James Walter Acree, youngest of four, was born in 1874 and raised on a farm, practically on the Tennessee-Kentucky border. He was reared largely by an uncle because of the death in 1884 of his mother and the ill-health of his father, a much wounded Civil War veteran. In adulthood, he joined his brothers in becoming an insurance salesman - travelling in the mid-West before settling in McAlester, Oklahoma, in 1915. His first wife died, leaving him with a son. Eventually, he married Minnie Sachse, and together they raised five children in Oklahoma. He died there in 1953." (Research of Charles Acree)
