(Son, Raiford Pittman, http://tn-roots.com/tngibson/photos/luther_pittman.htm)

General Notes: Wife - Cora Lea RAIFORD

Raiford PITTMAN lists the birth and death of his mother Cora Lea RAIFORD as 25 Jan 1914 and 12 May 1999, both in Panola County, Mississippi. Her age in the 1920 census supports that.

The Social Security Death Indax does not list Cora Lea PITTMAN as such. There is a "CORA V PITTMAN 20 Mar 1910 12 Mar 1999 (V) 64870 (Webb City, Jasper, MO ) 64755 (Jasper, Jasper, MO ) 491-01-2669 Missouri." No SSDI record matches her birth or 12 May 1999 date of death. This may be Raiford Pittman's mother.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Eliza ZIMMERMAN

Mary Eliza ZIMMERMAN is named in the LW&T of Chestian E. WILLIAMSON as "Granddaughter". She would be his step-granddaughter, the child of James Dozier ZIMMERMAN and Sarah T. HOWELL, daughter of Chestian's wife Mary, widow of both William HOWELL and Dr. Robert HENDRICK.
"From one of the old Columbia books I have read, the granddaughter of Mary Stanley HOWELL and daughter of Sarah HOWELL and James ZIMMERMAN married Mary's half-brother, Captain William Byrd STANLEY, and she died in childbirth, and both she and her child are buried in the Stanley plot. I wonder if it's all right for one to marry one's grandmother's half brother! Captain STANLEY never married again; left his very substantial estate to his one niece and five nephews, including my grandfather, executor of the estate, Charles Duke STANLEY. Captain William Byrd STANLEY had a very colorful life, including his being one of the committee who surrendered to Sherman. His estate was so large that it took twelve years to settle." (Marian Stanley Tucker, Amstucker@aol.com,email, May 9, 2005.)

General Notes: Child - Jettie WILLIAMS

Estelle "Jetty" WILLIAMS, daughter of Jon David WILLIAMS and Tiny POPE, is named in the 1920 census of Tallapoosa County, Alabama. "-- Jeddie Son M W 9 S AL AL AL"; the male notation is in error. The given name is not clearly written.

Jetty married Herman Anderson POSEY who died on 17 January 1965. She remarried to a FOWLER, may have been divorced. (Alice Rowl)

According to the wife of one of her grand sons, Jetty's given name was Estelle. We have always called her Aunt Jetty. (Alice Rowl)

General Notes: Child - Jetty

Jetty is likely a nickname. The 1920 census appears to read "Jeddie" but that is not clear. In addition, Jeddie, 9, is a male. Would it be "Jullet"? And "Jetty" her nickname?

General Notes: Child - Lucille WILLIAMS

Lucille is named as "Luciel" in the 1920 census.

General Notes: Child - Rose WILLIAMS

Rose is thought to be short for Roselle.
