General Notes: Husband - Joel THREEWITS

Joel THREEWITS is the youngest son of Capt. Joel THREEWITS. He was too young for Revolutionary War service, which lead to his estimated birth date of about 1760.
Joel's will was written on January 21, 1811 and probated on December 2, 1836. In it he named his wife, Lucretia, and "THREEWITS, Maj John - Late of Lexington Dist. Richland Eq. #38 Brother: Joel THREEWITS...

1820 U.S. Census, South Carolina, Newberry District, page 136, lists:

Will: 1 Jan 1818 Witnesses: John and Mary THREEWITS, John THOMAS." Joel named his wife, Lucretia and John HATTON as Executors. *Note: Please note the WILLIAMSON name in the Brunswick County records, as well as the daughters' given names in Joel's will. Another Will abstract, Richland County Will Book K: "Page 173. Joel THREEWITS of Newberry District. Will, January 21, 1818-December 22, 1836. Wit.: John THREEWITS, Mary THREEWITS, John THOMAS. Dau.; Mary Adline, Emma Eliza, Epsy Davis, Keziah Ann Ross, Lucy Vaughn, m. LOWERMAN. Mrs. Mary PHELPS had given legacies to the last four daughters." ("History of Richland County", p. 308, Green)

Two other children are mentioned in the works of A.S. Salley, Jr., Mary Adeline and Lucy Vaughn LOWERMAN. Mary, Emma, and Lucretia are said to have been underage. Mrs. Mary PHELPS, in her 1816 LW&T names both her daughter Lucretia and Lucretia's daughter Lucy Vaughn LOVEMAN [LOWERMAN].

General Notes: Wife - Lucretia PHELPS

"THREEWITS, Joel Of Newberry District. Richland Wills K-172. Wife: Lucretia - daughter of legatee of Mrs. Mary PHELPS."

General Notes: Child - Lucy Vaughn THREEWITS

Lucy Vaughn THREEWITS is named as a daughter in the 1818 Will of her father, Joel THREEWITS. Mary PHELPS, in her 19 February 1816 LW&T, left a legacy to Lucy Vaughn LOVEMAN. An abstract of Mary's will indicates she was Lucy's maternal grandmother. Mrs. Mary PHELPS, in her 1816 LW&T names Joel THREEWITS, her daughter Lucretia (PHELPS) THREEWITS and Lucretia's daughters Lucy Vaughn LOVEMAN (LOWERMAN?), Kesia Ann Ross THREEWITS, and Epps Davis THREEWITS. (Names in parentheses are not in the text. RLD)

General Notes: Child - Epps Davis THREEWITS

Epsy Davis is named as a daughter in the 1818 Will of her father, Joel THREEWITS.

Epps Davis THREEWITS was a legatee of Mrs. Mary PHELPS, in her 19 February 1816 LW&T. An abstract of Mary's will indicates she was Kesia's maternal grandmother. Mary PHELPS also names her daughter Lucretia (PHELPS) THREEWITS, Joel THREEWITS (Lucretia's husband), and Lucretia's daughters Lucy Vaughn LOVEMAN (LOWERMAN?), and Kesia Ann Ross THREEWITS. (NOTE: Names in parentheses ARE NOT in the text, my interpretations only. RLD)

Epps Davis THREEWITS, daughter of Joel THREEWITS and niece of Maj. John THREEWITS, married William GEIGER after January 21, 1818, the date of her father's will which shows her to have been single at that time. (A.S. Salley)
The best-documented Threewits/GEIGER marriage is the one you've already listed. Here are a few more dates and children, per the 1945 Percy Geiger book, "Geigers of South Carolina". This book includes several known errors, but these are apparently correct (Harriet Imrey):
Epps Davis Threewits (1801-1858), daughter of Joel THREEWITS and Josephine LOVE, married in 1829 William GEIGER (1802-1854, buried in Tyler Field cemetery). He was the son of William GEIGER (1773-1855) and Margaret KERSH (1782-1852). Their children were:
1. William GEIGER, MD (1831 - aft. 1921), m. Annie GARDNER
2. Emily GEIGER (13 Sep 1836 - 16 Jan 1894), m. Dr. J. L. REID (1828-1857)
3. Mary GEIGER, m. Arthur REESE
4. Adam GEIGER, m. Mary CARTER
5. Louise GEIGER, m. Samuel LORICK
6. David GEIGER, m. Laura WHITTLE of Edgefield.

Mary PHELPS also names her daughter Lucretia (PHELPS) THREEWITS, Joel THREEWITS (Lucretia's husband), and Lucretia's daughters Lucy Vaughn LOVEMAN (LOWERMAN?), Lucy Vaughn THREEWITS, and Epps Davis THREEWITS. (NOTE: Names in parentheses ARE NOT in the text, my interpretations only. RLD)

General Notes: Child - Llewellin Williamson THREEWITS

There are two Llewellin Williamson THREEWITS, one, who died in 1814, the husband of Catherine DANIEL and son of Llewellin THREEWITS and Eleanor FITZPATRICK; the other the son of Joel and Lucretia THREEWITS. "Llewellen" is spelled several different ways.

Llewellen Williamson THREEWITS is named in the 1818 Will of his father, Joel THREEWITS. He later married Josephine Love RIVERS of James Island, Charleston, South Carolina on 21 February 1839. Curiously, a marriage record, appearing to be the same couple, exists in Lowndes County, Alabama showing Lewellen W. THREEWITS marrying Josephine RIVES on Feb 21, 1839 MOODY, Francis W. MG, recorded in Book 1, page 257.

His sister Emma E. THREEWITS married James Croskeys RIVERS of James Island on March 7, 1839, only two weeks after Llewellin married Josephine.

General Notes: Husband - Charles Duke STANLEY, CSA

"My grandfather, Charles Duke STANLEY, was only fifteen years old when he joined the 17th Alabama Regiment; was in the battle of Kennesaw Mountain and the Battle of Atlanta, where he had one of his fingers shot off.
He devoted his entire life to propagating the Methodist Christian faith, supported two missionaries in China and Japan for 35 years, preached to the prisons every Sunday afternoon, was Trustee and one of the founders of the Oliver Gospel Mission here in Columbia, South Carolina (dedicated to caring for the city's homeless and destitute). Elected not to join any social organization during his lifetime.
Mother said that the fervor of the grand Stanley's became so intense that Grandmother Julia Phillips STANLEY was carried away and began "speaking in tongues:" at certain church meetings. One month Mother counted the meetings she and my Aunt Lily attended: thirty-one meetings in thirty days.
When the Stanley wealth evaporated early in the Great Depression, the constant obsession faded into thin air. After that, there was a terrible, enervating, long struggle to gain a foothold again. My wonderful mother was the only one who was able to save the Stanley family. A real powerhouse descended from French, Scots, and English worthy ancestors." (Marian Stanley )

General Notes: Husband - Major Robert WYNNE

The chain of events below might identify the son of Robert Wynne and Martha Jefferson referred to in the Turpin Notebooks. It also might identify the Robert Wynne married to Frances who appears in a few different mid 18th century records.
1721 - Robert Wynne of Surry County buys 50 acres that later falls in Brunswick County (Surry Deeds 7, p. 380)
1726 - Robert Wynne of Surry County patents 400 acres on Beaver Pond Creek in Prince George County on the present-day Dinwiddie/Brunswick line (Patent Book 13, p. 42)
1741 - Robert Wynne the Elder and Robert Wynne the Younger of Prince George County sell the 50 acres previously purchased by Robert Wynne of Surry (Brunswick Deeds 2, p. 90)
1742 - Robert Wynne and his wife Frances of Brunswick County sell a 386-acre patent for land in Brunswick County (Brunswick Deeds 2, p. 216)
Robert and Frances Wynne also appear in the Bristol Parish register for the births of their two daughters, Margaret (1741) and Mason (1745). Could this Robert be the son referred to in the Turpin Notebooks? How else to explain the land sequence?
We know that after Martha Jefferson's death her husband Robert Wynne married Mary Phillipson of Brunswick County. The problem is there are so many Roberts and it is very difficult to sort them out. (http://genforum.genealogy.com/wynne/messages/997.html)

ARTHUR BROADWATER PICKERING Billings, Montana A rush of static over the ether, the staccato sound of Morse Code, and Art settles down to a night of enioyment as a "ham" operator. The air also crackled when Art took the controls of an airplane and cruised among the clouds as a member of the Flying Club. Whether as a baseball, basketball, and tennis player or in his work in "B" Company, Art gave his all. With his varied interests Art has a wide range of fields to enter, but we look to him for new developments in communication. General Notes: Husband - Orrin Stephen PIKE

Orrin Stephen PIKE married Susan Della WEST on 1 May 1898 in Heard County, Georgia. She died 4 January 1920. Orrin was the informant on her death certificate. His second wife was Annie, marriage record not found. Annie DANIEL was married to a "West" PIKE about 1921. Their son, Harold Loyd PIKE was born 11 Dec 1922 in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia, and died 3 January 1923 in LaGrange at age 23 days. Informant for Harold's death certificate, which names his parents, was West PIKE, apparently using the maiden name of his deceased wife as a nickname? No other appropriate record for this "West" PIKE has been located. In 1930 Annie is the wife of Otis [S.?, initial obscured] PIKE. Two of Orrin S. PIKE's sons by Susan Della WEST, Blueford, age 17, and O. D. PIKE, age 15, are in the household. The name "Otis" is another anomoly. Censuses from 1900 to 1920 name him as Orin S. and Orran S. PIKE. This compiler concludes that Otis S./Orin S./Orran S./Orrin Stephen and "West" PIKE are the same man.
