General Notes: Wife - Teresa Lynn MADDOX

Teresa Lynn MADDOX was the daughter of Willard MADDOX and Lucretta Ann DANIELL, and the adopted daughter of James Edgar WILLIS.

There are conflicting memories of how Teresa Lynn died. Julian's family recalls that Lynn MADDOX, a four year old, was run over and killed when her "grandfather" James Edgar WILLIS, backed over her in the driveway. Teresa's half-sister, Tammy Jo CAMPBELL, who was a year old infant when Teresa died, relates that her family was always told that Teresa pulled away from her mother and darted into the street and was hit by a truck in Cairo, Georgia.

Teresa L. Maddox died 24 Apr 1972 at age 4 in Grady County, Georgia. [FamilySearch.org:
Georgia Death Index, 1933-1998, certificate number: 020811]

Teresa Lynn is buried in plot Section E, Lot 23, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, Thomas County, Georgia. A picture of her headstone, with her picture on it, is on Find A Grave Memorial# 58591489:

DoraLisa [one word] "Chady" MADERA married Roger Franklin SHERROD. She is also known as DoraLisa FISHLOWE.

Chady is a licensed pilot.

Chady Sherrod, 42, a physical therapy assistant who played college volleyball, thinks Cadorette is onto something. She has played intense, competitive volleyball - and now prefers to play in Merrill Park's recreational leagues instead. ``It's so much more fun,'' says Sherrod, who plays on a team with colleagues from Florida Hospital. ``It doesn't matter if we win or lose. What I found was that competition just brings out the worst in most people. That's why I came to this league.'' John Forrest Mahorney, born Apr. 7, 1936, passed away on Jan 3, 2016. His parents were John Richard Mahorney (1915-1986) and Katherine Elizabeth Thomson (1918-1997). Her mother was Katherine Blakeney Sullivan (1892-1973). [Michael Sullivan]

Obituary: John Forrest Mahorney, of Strasburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Greenfield Reflection of Strasburg. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (LuLu); son, Steven; brother Lawrence; and nephews, niece, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and John R. Mahorney; brother, Edward Mahorney; and sister, Ciss Masters.Upon retiring from the Arlington Co. Fire Department as a Station Commander in 1986, John realized his dream, and he and LuLu moved to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, a place they had visited and loved for many years.John loved his family, his dogs, his friends, Bluegrass music, antique clocks, and steam engine trains. As a member of the National Railway Historical Society, he and Pat enjoyed many trips. He was a funny, outgoing man, and nothing brought him greater joy than to bring a smile to someone's face, particularly a child's. He was kind and generous and a tireless worker, proficient in everything he tackled, from building a cabin to rewiring a home to house painting like a pro. He never knew the meaning of the word "bored". Alzheimer's has no mercy on its victims. John did not choose to forget your name, to speak to you in garbled sentences, to act without discretion, or to become isolated while hoping to see or hear from an old friend... It was John's wish that there be no funeral nor memorial service and his ashes scattered in the spring in a place chosen by him... Stover Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Strasburg is serving the family of Mr. John F. Mahorney.[http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/nvdaily/obituary.aspx?pid=177159507#sthash.fp08kd7e.dpuf]

A Mother's Day tribute to Nadine, May 8, 2011, from her daughter, Lynn Marie Tulumello:
I've walked many of the places that you had walked,
on the same steps, along the driveway and in the yard when I was child.
In the streets, the bars, and the stores when I was a girl.
I walked along these places alone because you were gone so soon.
I would have never known you had I not walked the places you had been.
And for all those years I never knew you were always with me.
You were always guiding me, always best at being my guardian angel.
Even though you were always there, I was always looking for my mother.
My journey is the story of Siddhartha, though that is not my name.
I searched my whole life for my missing mother.
My journey even led me to a woman I was meant to have never known.
I had knowledge of mother from the other side, as I too became a mother.
But the long journey finally led me to you, right to your door.
When I arrived, I realized that you were always with me, Mom.
And that, I found out, was indeed the meaning of "Mother."
