General Notes: Child - Mary Frances WILLIS

Mary Frances WILLIS, daughter of Thomas N. WILLIS and Ariaminta LEONARD, married Samuel Leonardus TERRY on 10 December 1891. She is listed in censuses as Frances (once, 1880, age 10 in her parents' home), Fannie (1900 and 1910 ), and Mary F. (1920) as the wife of Samuel. labs.familysearch.org lists her as "Farrion M. WILLIS" who married Samuel L. TERRY on 10 Dec 1891 in Baldwin County. Census information does not support "Farrion", possibly a misreading of a handwritten document?

General Notes: Husband - Doris O. LEONARD

Doris O. LEONARD, 17, born Dec 1882 in Georgia, lives in the home of Sarah M. POSEY and Sarah's daughter Lucy WALKER in the 1900 census of Baldwin County, Georgia. The relation betwen Doris and Sarah is not easy to read and may be "niece", if so how so? Through a TERRY, HUFF, or POSEY connection? (Series: T623 Roll: 178 Page: 283) On the same census page is the family of Jessie L. and Sallie LEONARD, 48 and 36, respectively. the oldiest child in the home is James C., 12. POSSIBLY these are her parents, but what is their connection that would make Doris a niece to Sarah M. POSEY?

General Notes: Wife - Amy Augusta LESTER

Augusta LESTER married James Sylvester WILMETH. A family notes say that her name may have been "Amanda Augusta" or "Amy Augusta". The 1900 census may be the reason for this uncertainty, it is not easy to read.

"WILMETH, Amy Augusta, b. 25 Mar 1846, d. 22 Jul 1919" (Verden Cemetery Index, Grady County, Oklahoma)

General Notes: Child - Nellie Ann WILMETH

Nellie Ann WILMETH, age 8, is named in her parents' home in the 1880 census. Family history records her birth on 19 September 1871. The 1900 census records her age as 27, should be 21, born Sept 1878, clearly legible.

Nellie Ann married Devol CASADY on 25 July 1889. She was a teacher, enjoyed music and wrote verses of poetry, some of which she set to music, and was affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.

Nellie Ann died giving birth to her seventh child, an infant daughter who also died. They are buried together in Verden Cemetery, Grady County, Oklahoma.
"CASADY, Nellie A. [WILMETH], b. 19 Sep 1871, d. 14 May 1913 (W/O Devol CASADY)"

John H. TERRY is named as a deceasd son in the 1 August 1873 will of his father, William W. TERRY of Forsyth County, North Carolina. William made a bequeath to "the four living children of my son John H. TERRY."

John H. TERRY of North Carolina was a Hog Drover. He came to Georgia on business, liked it and stayed. He married Evangelina LESTER on 26 October 1856 in Baldwin County, Georgia. (Lisa Terry, 8/02/2006)
NOTE: Evangelina LESTER is recorded as "Vangiller LESTER" in this record, a misreading of the handwritten name? John H. Terry married Vangiller Lester on 26 Oct 1856 in Baldwin County, Georgia. "National Archives military records for John H. Terry (married Evangelina Lester) was part of fought [sic] the Phillips Legion Cavalry. There are receipts and muster rolls among the documents.. My favorite is the Muster Roll for Sept & Oct 1864 that lists him as: Present or absent :Absent. Remarks: On horse detail since Sept 21, 1864, by order of Gen Lee." (Lisa Terry)

The John H. TERRY family has not been located in the 1870 census as yet.

John died before 1 August 1873 as evidenced in his father's will.

General Notes: Wife - Evangelina LESTER

Evangelina LESTER married John H. TERRY, 26 October 1856, in Baldwin County, Georgia. A marriage record at FamilySearch.org names her as "Vangiller" Lester. By John, Evangelina had at least three children: John, Samuel and Sarah. They are named as BUTTS, not TERRY, in the 1880 census.

John TERRY died before 13 March 1873 when Evangelina married second Thomas E. C. BUTTS in Baldwin County, Georgia. Thomas is not with the family in 1880 and presumed to have died.

General Notes: Husband - William TALBOTT

"I made another trip to Paris Ky. Saturday and also went to Ruddles Mills. I
found the
stone house that is illustrated in the Historic Architecture of Bourbon
County, Ky. book by Walter Langsam that was supposedly built by Henry Talbott
Sr. I also went to the Indian creek Baptist church and Cemetery which is less
than a mile away. This site is on the Historic Bourbon Co. map as the burial
site of Henry Talbott a Revolutionary Grave. The grave marker and a Historic
Places marker both say Henry Talbert. There are also many Whaley Graves here.
What are your thoughts on this?
I am also now wondering if William is Henry's father because I found some info
that says William b. ca. 1720 married Leanna Mason is the son of Benjemin
b.ca.1690 d. 1726 and Hannah Neale. Ben is the son of William II b.ca.1645 d.
1713 and Katherine Lewis.William is the son of William Sr. b.1621 (In England)
d.1680 and Mary Sharp. William came to Virginia in 1635 at 14 years on the
ship Globe.
If this is correct than Henry did not come from England or he is not a
descendant of William."

Diaz and husband Ken of John's Island, South Carolina, Carolyn L. Anderson and husband Myles of Roswell, Georgia and Ms. Martha S. Lightcap of Atlanta, Georgia, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mr. Lightcap was born on September 9, 1926 at Rialto Plantation and grew up in nearby Yazoo City, Mississippi. During his service he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon in Japan, Army Commendation Ribbon, WD Circle 377 1945 Victory Ribbon and two over seas service ribbons. He attended Georgia Tech where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He instilled in his children the values of courage, honesty, hard work, self-reliance, heritage, friendship, compassion, and patriotism. A member of First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, he drew strength from his faith, his wife, family, friends, music, and the wisdom of Rudyard Kipling. Christine LINDSEY was the second wife of Julian Kenneth "J. K." Daniell, aka DANIEL.

J. K. was a truck driver and they married in either Tallapoosa or Tuscaloosa, AL (or some name like that). She was living in Meigs and she always worked at a truck stop. She had 2 or 3 children by a Mr. Cash from Atlanta, but they didn't live with her. Aunt Verta doesn't remember when they married, but they separated sometime in the 60's because J. K. married again in 1966. Christine was seeing a man by the name of Barrett (not sure of the spelling) whom she met at the truck stop, and may have married him. Aunt Verta said she only met Christine's parents 1 time, but thinks her father's name was John. (From Teresa Griffis, conversation with Mary Verta Daniell McCRAY)

"John and Sarah Lipscomb named one of their 12 children Milledge Bonham Lipscomb, in honor of her brother Milledge Luke Bonham. In return, Milledge Luke Bonham and his wife Ann Patience Griffin named one of their 14 children, Milledge Lipscomb Bonham. Milledge Luke Bonham did not have a son named Milledge Luke Bonham. Imagine the humor and confusion when first cousins Milledge Bonham Lipscomb and Milledge Lipscomb Bonham were in the same room." (Charles Andrews, 7.09.2006)

Mary Littlejohn WITHERS was the widow of William WITHERS, a cousin of John WITHERS. She married Francis COFER. Mrs. COFER is named on Robert BROOKS' Potomac map of 1737, indicating that Francis may have died before the date of that map.
Mary COFFER in her will of 22 February 1741 devised the 378 acre tract to her son Francis. She stated that Francis COFFER, before he died, entered the land and the deed "hath been by and since cleared out of the office and the deed for the said land made out in my said son's name." (This 378 acres was granted to Francis COFFER (COPHER) as NN B:147 on 15 October 1728 LS Pohick adjacent Henry WARD.) Mary also named her sons Thomas Withers COFFER and Francis COFFER executors of her will.
