General Notes: Husband -

David DANIEL, born 1769, son of William O'DANIEL, mother not known, is named in his father's Will and left 1 shilling.
According to the Hart Family Papers, David DANIEL married Mary MULDOON who died before 1819. David and Mary had only daughters: Dorcus Rebecca DANIEL (died after 1821), Sarah Jane, Harriet Eleanor, Cynthia, Mary, and Artemisia.
In 1788 David witnessed a deed of a John O'DANIEL to William O'DANIEL in Lancaster County, later Kershaw County, South Carolina.
Records from Kershaw County, South Carolina Minutes of the County Court 1791-1799 by Brent Howard Holcomb show on p. 20 - 1792 July 31; David DANIEL vs John TRANTHAM & Rachel TRANTHAM , Judgement by default with costs.
In a letter from David to his brother, Josiah, in 1809, David said his wife (Mary MULDOON) was a sister of John MULDOON, apparently they had been married since 1802. David requested an answer to his letter be addressed to the Chester County Court House.
SCMAR, Vol. II, Fall 1974, No. 4, p.217.
David DANIEL was sued in 1816 in the York District Court of Common Pleas by Philip RAIFORD and Jesse DANIEL, executors of the Last Will and Testament of Josiah L. DANIEL. On Feb. 13, 1810, David DANIEL had borrowed $80.00 from Josiah L. DANIEL which he had neglected to repay. The suit is recorded in the York County, S. C., Court of Common Pleas Judgment Rolls, 1800-1839, No. 697. A letter was presented as evidence by the plaintiffs. The letter mentioned, above, starts off "Brother Josiah." Granted, this salutation could mean a lot of things but if you read his letter to Josiah then you come away with the general assessment they are brothers, as well as the fact that David does not give express concern for Lucretia's kids. There is no evidence to the contrary. (SCMAR, Vol. II, Fall 1974, No. 4, p.217, David Daniel and His Family Troubles)

David's daughter, Sarah Jane DANIEL, married James McCREIGHT. David witnessed the Will of her father-in-law, Robert McCREIGHT, on 5 August 1828.

A history of Prairie View described in the website:
http://skyways.lib.ks.us/towns/PrairieView/historypv.html is presented below:
History of Prairie View, Kansas

[In May of 1873, the Robert and Daniel W. Thomas families arrived in the yet unnamed "Prairie View" area. They left Missouri early in the year to get "to wherever they were going" in order to plant crops. The Dan Thomas family at that time consisted of 4 children, so they had a stove in their covered wagon. Robert Thomas had 6 children, so there was no room for a stove; therefore, cold nights were miserable. Arriving in this area, (Prairie View) the wagon boxes were placed on the ground and claims registered. The first two permanent families had arrived.
A 1906 paper accounts this story about one of the first days. "The only thing that dispelled the feeling of homesickness that was crawling over our friend Tuck (Dan) Thomas of Prairie View, the second day after he reached Phillips County, was his good luck in downing a fine buffalo with his six-shooter and then having to ride it a few hundred yards before finishing it with his jack-knife.
Work on dugouts waited until sod was broken and the crops were planted. Both families spent the first and possibly the second winter in a dugout.
A couple of years later in a dugout approximately one-half mile west of the present post office, Tuck (Dan) Thomas stocked a dugout with flour, sugar, salt and other staples. When he made trips to purchase supplies, he picked up mail for his neighbors. When settlers came to purchase supplies, they also picked up their mail. On July l5, 1879, Tuck Thomas was granted a legal post office for a town he named Prairie View.
On August 27, 1892, the Prairie View post office was relocated one-half mile east to the platted town of Prairie View. It is likely Daniel W. And Mary E. Thomas and Robert and Olive Thomas as the Kansas Town and Land Company waited until the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad completed plans to build through the town before making it official.
The Prairie View cemetery was on land given by the Thomas families just west of town. A wagon train headed west had 2 small children die and these were the first two buried in the cemetery. The graves are not marked but are in the southwest corner of the Daniel and Mary Thomas plots.
One descendant of the Thomas family is still living in the town of Prairie View as well as a number of descendants of the first Dutch who settled here.

After his wife died, Tuck moved to Idaho, where he and some of his children were busy establishing another town (Gooding). In a 1920 letter to his daughter's, Tuck enthusiastically describes the building boom in the town and reports "everybody that can saw a board is a carpenter". Daniel died in Gooding, Idaho December 22, 1925.

Jesse B. DANIEL was a son of Stephen DANIEL and Matilda H. DANIEL. He was born in South Carolina. His family moved from Edgefield District, South Carolina to Chambers County, Alabama between 1834 and 1836. His father died between 1838 and 1840. His family moved to Warren and Hinds County, Mississippi before 1850.

Jesse has been found with both "B." and P." as a middle initial.

In 1850, Jesse B. DANIELS [sic], 26, and brother, S. A. [Stephen Augustus], 21, live together in Hinds County, Mississippi which borders Warren County. A sister, Emeline, born about 1827, lives with her mother. The three were born in South Carolina. Their births fit the age brackets of Matilda's family in the 1840 census of Chambers County, Alabama.

General Notes: Wife -

"Mary E." is named as the wife of Matthew Moore MURRAY in the 1900 and 1910 censuses. An alternate name, "Mary M. CANTELOUP" is posted as Matthew's wife, but that surname spelling has not been found by this compiler. There are variant spellings of "CANTELOU" but a search of the 1880 census for Mary's family was unsuccessful.
