In the latter part of he 1600s, the Moxley family was in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Two of them, brothers, William and Thomas, were in Fairfax, Virginia during the time Fairfax county was created from Prince William County in 1744.
"William left a will dated March 3rd and proved November 21, 1752, naming wife, Jane (apparently a second wife, as he mentions also, "daughter-in-law Jane Watkins"), sons William, Daniel, Samuel, Thomas, and Nathaniel (the last three minors committed to the care of Gerard "Boling", and daughters, "Sibbel" Burk, Hannah Reagan, Martha "Boling", Margaret, Anna Rials and Elizabeth Lowe." (Tyler's.)
This unknown William Moxley may be a cousin of William Moxley of Fairfax, Virginia:

Name: William Moxley 08 May 1744 30 Oct 1744
My son Daniel and his wife Mary ; grandson Richard son of Richard Moxley ; grandson William Payton ; sons Samuel , William and Thomas ; youngest son Daniel exor.
John R. Clarke"
This then would be the unknown William Moxley's son, Daniel:
"Westmoreland County Wills Book XVI.
Name: Daniel Moxley 18 May 1774
Wife Mary ; friend Capt. Thomas Chilton ; Mr. William Chilton ; nephew Richard Moxley, Jr. , son of my brother Richard ; nephew Joseph son of my brother Joseph ; to Daniel son of my nephew Joseph the latter being son of my brother Joseph ; to Daniel son of my nephew Richard Moxley, Jr. ; to Richard son of my nephew Richard ; to nephew William son of my brother John ; to William son of my brother John .

General Notes: Husband -

The chain of events below might identify the son of Robert Wynne and Martha Jefferson referred to in the Turpin Notebooks. It also might identify the Robert Wynne married to Frances who appears in a few different mid 18th century records.
1721 - Robert Wynne of Surry County buys 50 acres that later falls in Brunswick County (Surry Deeds 7, p. 380)
1726 - Robert Wynne of Surry County patents 400 acres on Beaver Pond Creek in Prince George County on the present-day Dinwiddie/Brunswick line (Patent Book 13, p. 42)
1741 - Robert Wynne the Elder and Robert Wynne the Younger of Prince George County sell the 50 acres previously purchased by Robert Wynne of Surry (Brunswick Deeds 2, p. 90)
1742 - Robert Wynne and his wife Frances of Brunswick County sell a 386-acre patent for land in Brunswick County (Brunswick Deeds 2, p. 216)
Robert and Frances Wynne also appear in the Bristol Parish register for the births of their two daughters, Margaret (1741) and Mason (1745). Could this Robert be the son referred to in the Turpin Notebooks? How else to explain the land sequence?
We know that after Martha Jefferson's death her husband Robert Wynne married Mary Phillipson of Brunswick County. The problem is there are so many Roberts and it is very difficult to sort them out. (http://genforum.genealogy.com/wynne/messages/997.html)

Lived in Union, South Carolina at the time of his death in July, 1927. An obituary published 11 July 1927 in the Union, South Carolina newspaper related: "Henry B. JENNINGS...entering Clemson College at an early age, was graduated with honors in 1902 from the Textile Department of the institution at the age of 18, perhaps being the youngest student ever to finish the course. Mr JENNINGS was an untiring worker and a thorough master of details. His rapid rise in the mill industry was due to these two qualities and the further characteristic - loyalty to duty. He believed inhard work, and was successful in inspiring those under him with the same spirit. He was a loyal friend and a man of strict intergrity. His death is a great loss to Union, and the city is in mourning today. Harry B. JENNINGS was President and General Manager of the Union Buffalo Mills Co. and Vice-Presdient of other manufacturing companies in South Carolina." 4248

General Notes: Husband -

Rev. Henry LeRoy "Roy" JOHNS Sr. (son of Rev. Henry S. JOHNS and Hope FOSTER) was born on Nov 12, 1896 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He received a degree about 1917 in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. He received a degree about 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia. He died on Feb 22, 1985 in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. He spent his last 2-3/4 years in the Veterans Administration Hospital, located in Pineville, LA. He was buried on Feb 25, 1985 in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ouachita Parish, Monroe, Louisiana. 623 Highway - 80 East, Monroe, LA. He served in the military as an Ensign (USN) in WWI. He was a Methodist Minister in many LA churches. He was also known as "Peppy" by his grandchildren.

Hope Norman recalls: "Daddy graduated from LSU in 1917. My understanding is that he did not go to his graduation, nor did most of his fellow male grads, but went immediately to war. However Daddy was underweight (!!) and did not get accepted immediately. I know that he took a job in Evanston Illinois as Director of the YMCA and lived in the Chicago area (where he made some lifelong friends: among them was a family whose last name was Brayton.) But it must've been only a few months later that he was accepted in the Navy, after having, as he always told it, drunk lots of malts to fatten himself up! I do know for certain that his initial training was in the Great Lakes, and that he was housed on the Navy Pier (you can still go there easily today in Chicago.) (He told of waking up one day to find snow on his bed!) He loved Chicago and took advantage of all its benefits. The ship that he was on was named The Admiral Dewey (I'm pretty certain of that). I don't know when he was commissioned, but I do know he was an Ensign and that when the war ended he was in New York City awaiting shipment to Europe. He tells that himself on the tape we all have that Gail made when she interviewed Mother and Daddy in the early 1970s, and they told of falling in love through their letters. They deliberately burned these letters later as they did not want others ever to read them. Sometime during his training -- it must've been in the Great Lakes -- he and a fellow sailor were playing tag on the ship and the other boy fell into an open hatch and was seriously injured and was removed from the ship (perhaps to die). Daddy himself fell against the edge and later it was determined that it was then that he injured his kidney, which later required its removal (1926; another story). He received money from the Navy for this injury for the rest of his life, I think. Doubtless that is in navy records."

L. H. Johns is shown on the 1920 East Baton Rouge Parish, LA census, Baton Rouge town, ED 26, page 164. His occupation is that of a clerk in an Auto Company.

Henry L. Johns is shown on the 1930 U.S. Louisiana census, Orleans Parish, New Orleans District, ED 266, page 52 B.

Hope Norman recalls: "Here's another true story: your own name, LeRoy, came from Daddy being named after a Rev. Fauntleroy, a Methodist minister in Louisiana who was very active in the Chatauqua movement."

(The above from Hank Johns)
