General Notes: Husband -
John M. HOLDER married Rosa Lee SHIVERS on 22 July 1896 in Baldwin County, Georgia.
Extracts from John's death certificate: John HOLDER, husband of Rosa Lee SHIVERS, was born 8 May 1876 in Knoxville, Tennessee and died 4 Apr 1937 in Orlando, Orange County, Florida at age 60 years, 10 months, 26 days. He was buried the same day in Leesburg, Florida. John, a farmer, was a son of Marion Francis HOLDER, born in France, and ____BENNETT, born in Germany. [FamilySeach.org: Florida Deaths, 1877-1939, film number: 2135948, reference number: 7526]
There are conflicts between the death record information, censuses, and cemetery records. The 1900 census lists John's birth in May 1870, consistant with every census through 1930. Censuses indicate John's father was born in Virgina and his mother born in Tennessee.
The index of burials in Black Springs Baptist Churchyard list John M. HOLDER and four other members of his family:
679 Arnie C. Simpson 1892 1947
680 Kate H. Simpson 1898 1985
681 John M. Holder May 8, 1858 Apr 4, 1937
682 Rosa Lee Shivers Holder Jan 27, 1872 Jan 27, 1937 w/o John Holder
683 Annie M. Shivers 1873 1954
[http://www.friendsofcems.org/Baldwin/SQL.asp?CemNumber=20]
The date of John's birth on his death record is 22 years after the date of his birth on his headstone. It appears he may have been buried in Leesburg, Florida, then reinterred beside Rosa in Black Springs Baptist Churchyard in Baldwin County, Georgia. A picture of his gravestone is on Find A Grave Memorial# 19292894 created by Jack Johnson on May 08, 2007:

*NOTE: There are discrepancies given the following death record information. Birth date off by 22 years, burial in Leesburg, Florida, unless reinterred, and censuses listing John's father born in Virginia and his mother in Tennessee.
General Notes: Wife -

Born: Nov 1882 - South Carolina 1204 Christened: Died: Buried:
General Notes: Husband -
From available information, correllating census data and names from THE DESCENDANTS OF DR JOHN RICHARD MOBLEY, SR AND LUCRETIA SIMKINS, it appears this is the husband and children of Lilly J. ALLEN who died about Oct 1879, presumably from compilications of childbirth. Daniel is a widower with a 7 month old daughter. There is a difference in the name of Lilly's daughter, M. Elizabeth vice "Lily HOLLAND." Was she later called "Lilly"?

Generation No. 1
1. Hopkins1 Holsey (Source: History of Hancock County Georgia by Elizabeth Wiley Smith.) was born 25 Mar 1790 in Lynchburg, Virginia (Source: History of Hancock County Georgia by Elizabeth Wiley Smith.), and died 31 Mar 1859 in Georgia. He married Elizabeth B. Mitchell (Source: History of Hancock County Georgia by Elizabeth Wiley Smith, page 108.) 27 Jun 1826 in Hancock County, Georgia (Source: History of Hancock County Georgia by Elizabeth Wiley Smith, vol 2, page 90.), daughter of James Mitchell and Elizabeth Jourdan. She died Aft. 1836 in Harris County Georgia.
Notes for Hopkins Holsey:
Hopkin's niece, Antonette Holsey married John Levi Daniell in 1861.
There is an interesting story on the web about the family, I believe Hopkin's brother.
From the History of Hancock Co. volume two, page 90: The second son of James and Susanna Holsey was Hopkins Holsey, lawyer, Congressman and journalist. He was born near Lynchburg, Virginia, August 25, 1790, and spent most of the youth in Hancock. He was educated at the University of Virginia and later was graduated from the celebrated law school at Litchfield Connecticut. He married in Hancock County in 1826, Elizabeth B. Mitchell, who is said to be the most beautiful woman in Georgia. He represented Hancock County several years of the state legislature, a distinguished honor and those times.
Col. Holsey he was a Jeffersonian Democrat, strongly opposed to encroachments by the federal government, and an advocate of states rights -- combining the qualities of greatness and public service. He had removed to Harris County when in 1834 he was elected to Congress, and later reelected for second term. Col. Holsey made the trips through the country from Georgia to Washington in his carriage, accompanied occasionally by his wife. During one of those trips his only son Julius, was born. Julius Holsey many years later became a citizen of Corsicana, Texas.
Col. Holsey was becoming prominent as a leader in Congress when his wife became ill while he was in Washington and died before he could return. He did not recover from this great sorrow for many years. He retired from politics and purchased a farm near Athens where he lived with his little son. Here he found time an opportunity to write, which he continued to do until some years later he purchased the Southern Banner, one of the most foremost democratic journals of Georgia. He warmly advocated the Missouri compromise, the annexation of Texas, and the enforcement of the fugitive slave Law; and his editorials were masterly and powerful. When afterwards the question of union or secession was a supreme issue in the north and south, Col. took a stand against secession and his paper was a strong exponent of the Union side. It was at this time, when feeling was tense and bitter, that the Tugaloo tragedy occurred. A woman went to the office of the Banner, found the editor's sanctum and asked to see the foreman. Thomas Reynolds was pointed out to her, and she conversed with him and a casual manner for a few moments, then became silent, with her eyes upon him, while he waited for her to stay her business. Suddenly a pistol shot rang out, and Reynolds, wounded, ran into the street, his clothing on fire from his arm and side. The woman held the smoking pistol and her hand and drew another as she went out defying arrest. When she was finally captured and disarmed, Holsey appeared upon the scene of her trial before the mayor at the town hall; and when she learned who he was she cried out, " I have shot the wrong man!" She accused him of slandering her in an editorial, but he declared that he had never seen or even heard of her. The woman's name was Jane Young, and she lived on the Tugaloo River in South Carolina -- hence the occurrence was known as the Tugaloo Tragedy. It was thought to be a plan to kill Col. Holsey , instigated for political reasons by secessionists of South Carolina...
In 1852, Col. Holsey he was persuaded to enter again the congressional race to represent the Union Democrats against the Whigs and the disunion wing -- "the Tugaloo ticker", but was defeated. The next year he gave up politics because of division in his party. So he sold the Banner, removed to Butler, Georgia, and resumed the practice of law. In 1853 Col. Holsey he was married to Miss Julia M. Heisler, who survived him many years. They had no children.
Here was a great man, a great intellect, come to spend his remaining years and rest from the more strenuous toil of a very busy life. His health began to decline, so the years were not many; and on March 31, 1859, he passed away while sitting in his chair...
